Construction and engineering firms often have capable specialist software but lack dependable context across it. RFQs, estimates, drawings, contacts, project records, approvals, reports, and decisions remain fragmented across inboxes, spreadsheets, portals, document environments, and legacy applications. The StructuredLayer model
StructuredLayer uses three operating layers, one cross-layer control principle, and one result:
- Data Layer: Connect records, documents, identifiers, revisions, relationships, and source evidence.
- Workflow Layer: Define ownership, stages, permissions, validation, exceptions, approvals, and recovery.
- Automation and AI Layer: Add dashboards, deterministic automation, bounded AI agents, document processing, browser workers, and visual pipelines where the underlying context can support them.
Human Control applies across every layer. Named people retain authority for consequential commercial, contractual, financial, safety, compliance, quality, payment, and project decisions.
Business Outcomes are the result: traceable reports, submissions, alerts, decisions, completed work, and handover supported by the operating layers underneath. They are not a fourth technical layer.

Epistemic grounding in practical terms
Epistemic grounding means the system can show what it knows, where that information came from, which version or record is authoritative, what remains uncertain, which validation was applied, and who is permitted to decide what happens next.
For construction and property work, that can require stable identifiers, source links, revision state, document lineage, timestamps, permission checks, exception queues, review evidence, and named approval owners. A polished AI answer without those foundations may be useful as a draft, but it is not automatically reliable operating evidence.
Deployment and commercial boundary
